Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis
Lifestyle changes and exercise provided significant benefits for patients with osteoarthritis (hips/knee).
In this study data was collected from 9,825 participants in Denmark which revealed improved physical function, reduce painkiller intake and reported sick leave after following a supervised educational exercise program. In fact the benefits were so great the program that was initially rolled out in 5 health care regions was then implemented nationwide (in Denmark).
Remarkably at 1 year follow up the positive lifestyle changes of the program were still being maintained. Therefore having potentially far wider ranging implications by helping to reduce health related social-economic costs.
